Platform
Housing
To address the regional housing shortage, we need to reduce barriers to new development in our neighborhood. I support upzoning the Connecticut Avenue commercial corridor to allow for denser, mixed-use development, increasing livability near transit. I will work pragmatically within the Historic Preservation Review Board's process to support smart growth in Ward 3, while advocating for homeowners to have the freedom to build responsibly on their property as they see fit.Every family in 3C01 ought to be included in the Oyster-Adams Bilingual School boundaries.
Safe Streets
Everyone should feel safe on Connecticut Ave NW. I support DDOT’s original Concept C, which adds bike lanes and creates safer networks for motorists, cyclists, bus riders, and pedestrians. To increase safety, I propose adding speed tables to Cathedral Avenue to slow down motorists and protect residents from vehicular traffic.
Local Business
I will collaborate with Woodley Park Main Street to expand sidewalk markets, attract new vendors, and support small businesses. Land use regulations that limit pedestrian space and small business utility ought to be lessened to allow for more accelerated commercial development.
Across the District
I am an advocate for DC Statehood, passing I-83 for ranked-choice voting, and protecting Home Rule. Also, Congress must pass the RFK Memorial Stadium Revitalization Act to allow mixed-use development on unutilized land.
